The role 

Reporting to the Manager – Applied Technology, the key deliverables for the role include:  

  • Ensuring sample integrity of grower samples, stack, and site composites through a documented chain of custody and Laboratory Information Management System from receival through storage, analysis and reporting. 

  • Defining and effectively communicating the strategic direction of the laboratory and how insights from grain quality assessment can support the strategy. 

  • Providing technical leadership in the design and delivery of grain quality analytics and supporting the CBH business in identifying potential areas for delivering grower value. 

  • Leading the development of new testing methodologies. 

  • Ensuring activities undertaken are compliant with relevant accreditation requirements (i.e., NATA, ISO 17025). 


The successful candidate will have: 

  • A Bachelor of Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences. 

  • Minimum five years demonstrated experience in a quality control role with the hands-on expertise of various laboratory instruments, such as LCMS, GCMS, or PCR. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills when interacting with both non-technical and technical colleagues. 

  • The ability to work with others from diverse skill-sets, and backgrounds. 

  • Efficient problem solving, troubleshooting and scientific data interpretation abilities.  

  • Previous experience with NATA, ISO 17025 or similar quality systems. 

  • Proven ability to set priorities, analyse problems, formulate clear and effective solutions and co-ordinate several tasks simultaneously. 

  • Proven ability to deliver tasks on time and with a high degree of accuracy. 

  • Proven ability to maintain high moral and ethical standards in general and in relation to confidentiality. 

  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems, chain of custody and sample integrity requirements.
