The role 

Metro Grain Centre (MGC) is a diverse business, specialising as the company’s only integrated grain cleaning facility and export container loading facility. Reporting to the General Manager – Kwinana South Zone, the Manager – MGC is responsible for:  

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the site, including the movement of grain, grain fumigations, rail movements, and assisting the supervisors. 

  • Providing coaching and support for personnel to ensure compliance with CBH safety requirements. 

  • Leading recruitment, selection and workforce planning for the site, including succession planning and the engagement of contractors. 

  • Providing mentoring, and guidance to personnel, including completing annual development reviews and resolving any disciplinary matters. 

  • Building, growing, and maintaining positive relationships with customers, tenants, and contractors with support from the GM. 

  • Managing MGC operational capabilities within annual budget, identifying opportunities to reduce costs and optimise efficiencies. 


The successful candidate will have: 

  • Demonstrated experience in bulk handling, logistics, agriculture, or a related field. 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Management, Commerce, or a related discipline. 

  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams. 

  • A proven commitment to a ‘safety first’ culture. 

  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal. 

  • Exposure to SAP, IBIS and GRFE systems and/or experience in the use of other logistics management programs. 

  • Ability to problem solve and adapt in a high paced work environment.
