The Role

Join our Merredin team as a Mechanical Apprentice and kickstart your career with hands-on training and expert mentorship, offering guidance from experienced Tradespeople who are committed to helping you succeed.

 

Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll gain practical skills and industry knowledge through on-the-job experience and formal education in mechanical systems, safety standards and regulations—all leading towards obtaining your Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade.

 

Roster: Standard shifts are Monday to Friday, with optional weekend work and additional hours during harvest period as needed.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in diagnosing mechanical faults in plant and machinery
  • Support installation, maintenance and repair of pumps, compressors, engines and other mechanical components
  • Learn and follow safety protocols and mechanical standards applicable to the workplace
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and routine inspections, including documentation and reporting of irregularities
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and manuals with supervision
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of tools, workshop and job sites
  • Attend and complete classroom-based training as part of the apprenticeship program

 

About You:

  • Enrolled or willing to enrol in a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (or similar qualification)
  • Commitment to workplace safety and learning
  • Current driver's licence (preferred)
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and in areas with high grain dust concentrations

Desirable

  • Previous exposure to a mechanical or workshop environment or completion of a pre-apprenticeship
  • Basic understanding of mechanical principles and troubleshooting
