The Role

CBH is looking for a Cultural Heritage Lead to join our team on a part-time basis (16 hours per week), offering flexibility around days and hours.

 

Reporting to the Manager – Government & Industry Relations, you’ll play a key part overseeing our cultural heritage approvals, ensuring CBH's compliance with our signed heritage agreements and pertinent legislation.

 

This position will strengthen our positive relationships with Traditional Owners and relevant stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the timely delivery of heritage advice and approvals for CBH projects

  • Provide strategic direction and support on heritage matters, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, regulators, heritage service providers and Traditional Owners.

  • Monitor and communicate changes in the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 and other relevant legislation to internal stakeholders

  • Collaborate with Aboriginal Corporations and heritage service providers to lodge Activity Notices and coordinate the effective delivery of heritage surveys/heritage monitoring

  • Liaise with the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage for advice and lodgement of applications under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972.

  • Work with the Project Delivery team to develop and implement the heritage approvals schedule for upcoming projects

 

About You:

  • Tertiary qualification in Anthropology, Archaeology, Cultural Heritage Management, Indigenous Studies, or equivalent industry experience

  • Experience working positively with Traditional Owner groups and Aboriginal Corporations

  • Working knowledge of cultural heritage survey processes, site recording methodologies, and Western Australia heritage legislation.

  • Knowledge of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972, and operation of the Native Title Act in WA

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships.
