The Role 

Are you a communications expert passionate about agriculture? 

 

We’re looking for a seasoned professional to join our Corporate Affairs team in our Head Office in Perth’s vibrant CBD. In this 12-month fixed-term contract, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and strengthening our engagement with farmers, international grain customers, and the general public while promoting WA’s agriculture industry. 

 

You'll provide strategic communications and engagement advice, lead and support a range of initiatives, and collaborate with executives and senior leaders to develop communication strategies, manage issues and seize PR opportunities, all while aligning with our values and objectives. 

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on reputation, grower relations, media relations, issues management and employee engagement activities. 

  • Lead and develop integrated internal and external communications and engagement plans for divisional campaigns, projects and other business requirements.  

  • Assist in managing the organisation's reputation with external stakeholders such as growers, media and industry groups.  

  • Lead and manage direct reports to prepare, implement and review communications plans and marketing campaigns to deliver outcomes  

  • Develop content for website, intranet, social media, presentations, speeches and events 

 

About You: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or similar 

  • Demonstrated experience in related fields, managing large portfolios with direct reports 

  • Strong communication, influencing, and engagement skills; adept at integrated and contemporary communication strategies 

  • Proficiency in developing risk-mitigating strategies and responding to reputational risks 

  • Proven media relations expertise, including writing press releases and handling media queries 

  • Excellent grammatical skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues for diverse audiences 

  • Demonstrated connection to the Western Australian agriculture sector and experience in communications or corporate affairs within the sector 

  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required
